In February of 2005, Brent Pentecost walked into the doors of Bandwidth.com, not knowing that in just a few months he would be Operations Manager, Numbers. Brent started off in Sales, but quickly moved into Operations to help with our new VoIP installations - and became Bandwidth.com’s first ever Number Manager. While Brent’s work was core to the development of the VoIP business, his most important contribution is how he demonstrates the core values of Bandwidth.com every day.
You know that colleague that always has a smile on his face, no matter what? That’s Brent. For the past year, I have had the privilege to sit right outside his office, and there has never been a day that he hasn’t made me laugh. Whether it is through his entertaining singing skills or random jokes, Brent always makes you smile – and best of all, it rubs off on his employees, too. Even on the most hectic days, everyone in the Numbers and Order Entry department are grinning from ear to ear. Virginia Galvez, a member of the Numbers group, says
“Brent is extremely easy to talk to, and it is nice to know that while someone is your ‘boss’ they can always be considered someone you could confide in.”
Recently, I was in the hospital unexpectedly and Brent was the first person to call me to check in on me. That’s just the type of person he is to his employees and, truly, everyone at Bandwidth.com.
Now, don’t think that just because Brent is always smiling or telling a joke, that he is not working his tail off. Brent arrives to work everyday around 6:30am, and begins juggling porting escalations, new ports, reporting, and whatever else is thrown at him. Brent is the “go-to” guy for anything Numbers related and not once has he turned me away.
Brent is a true asset to Bandwidth.com, and is a great example of the extraordinary people here who lead by serving their family (Brent always puts his wife and two boys first), colleagues, employees and, in turn, Bandwidth.com’s customers who count on him. I hope you get to meet him – you will be glad you did.
