G.711 is a standard analog to digital coding system (coded) that converts analog audio signals into pulse code modulated (PCM) 64 kbps digital signals. The G.711 is an International Telecommunications Union (ITU) standard for audio codecs. The G.711 standard allows for different weighting processes of digital bits using mu-law and A-law coding. The G.711 standard was approved in 1965.
