Number Reputation Management

Cut back on missed connections
Who’s picking up for “Spam Risk?” Not your customers—especially when an improper label hurts their trust that it’s actually your business on the other end of the phone. Start repairing trust in your outbound calls with Number Reputation Management (NRM).
How Number Reputation Management works
Your calls are scored and potentially labeled by certain US mobile carriers using an ecosystem of algorithms and analytics engines—and they’re constantly changing. Correcting improper spam labeling issues on your own can be a time-consuming (and expensive) process. Bandwidth’s platform goes beyond basic monitoring of your calls—providing ongoing visibility into how calls are delivered, plus actionable solutions when things aren’t going right.
Number Reputation Management offers a platform to support you in managing your call reputation by offering features that can help prevent, monitor, and remove improper call labels.
Protect against spam labeling
Number registration can help reduce improper call labeling, so our NRM solution supports the process of registering your numbers within the call labeling ecosystem.
Monitor your number reputation across networks and devices
Track your number reputation across the three major US mobile carriers. Verify the presence or absence of call labels through frequent test calls.

Number Reputation Management FAQs
Bandwidth Number Reputation Management (NRM) empowers enterprises to manage and correct inaccurate call labels like “Scam Likely,” “Spam Risk,” and “Potential Spam.” NRM delivers clear insights alongside a streamlined remediation process. Enterprises can leverage features like number registration, monitoring, and label correction to maintain effective communications with customers and protect their business reputation.
A call label is a description that overwrites the Caller ID displayed on an incoming phone call, frequently with labels such as “Scam Likely” or “Spam Risk”.
The mobile carrier terminating the call will assign call labels such as “Scam Likely” based on their own analysis of the call and the calling phone number. Each major US mobile carrier partners with specific analytics engines to help them assess calls to their mobile subscribers:
- AT&T partners with Hiya
- T-Mobile partners with First Orion
- Verizon partners with TNS
While the mobile carriers make the final decision regarding call labeling, they typically rely on these analytics engines to first assess the call.
When an improper call label is detected, Bandwidth starts by analyzing data to identify the carrier(s) responsible for that label.
Once we have identified the responsible party, Bandwidth will request the removal of the improper label and advocate for the legitimacy of your call and identity. Your phone number will already be registered as a part of our enterprise NRM solution, so we’ll indicate that your identity has been vetted, the phone number(s) are registered to you for legitimate calling purposes, and therefore we believe the label is potentially in error. If the label is not removed because the carrier or their vendor argues a label is legitimate, Bandwidth will let you know and can help you understand whether any calling practices may be causing the issue.
You can track the progress of the remediation process and get updates on your numbers through the Number Reputation Management dashboard in the Bandwidth App.
