Call Screening, also known as call whispering, refers to the ability for a call recipient to obtain information about the caller after answering the call but without actually starting the conversation with the caller. For the caller, the call is still ringing while the call recipient is able to listen to a recording of information such as the caller’s name and purpose of the call. This provides the caller with the ability to accept, decline, or block specific numbers.

How Bandwidth is involved with call screening

Bandwidth has an API that acts as a query service for our customers to see the caller ID. Bandwidth uses a REST API to make this process fast and easy to use. Our text-to-speech feature will also allow you to type a custom message to your caller if you can’t accept their call at that time. You also have the ability to upload your own pre-recorded audio file to play at the time the call is answered.

What are the benefits of Bandwidth’s call screening

Call Screening gives you the ability to identify a caller and choose your action response, which in turn will save you time, allow you to mitigate fraudulent phone calls, and allow your customers to take back their privacy.
