Emergency Call Center (ECC)
What is an Emergency Call Center?
The Emergency Call Center (ECC) is a national call center that screens calls and transfers the call to the correct Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) after confirming the caller’s location to ensure calls without the necessary data don’t get lost.
What happens when a 911 call gets routed to the ECC?
First, the ECC Call Taker speaks with the caller to determine his/her location before transferring the call to the appropriate PSAP in the US, US Territory, or Canada.
How does Bandwidth handle 911 calls that come in without adequate details?
As long as we can establish voice connectivity on the call, we will always route a 911 call that comes into Bandwidth. If the call data is missing, incomplete, or invalid, we will route the call to the ECC for screening and location confirmation before warm-transferring the call to the correct PSAP to coordinate emergency response.
